One-step-up 'solves' pay anomalies in Mizoram
Aizawl, Aug 28(UNI) The Mizoram government today claimed to have solved pay anomalies among different government services with a one-step-up policy.
The one-step-up policy has benefited larger sections of the government employees one way or another.
"Even though it (the pay revision) may not fully satisfy each and every section of government employees, this was the most we can do for the time being," chief secretary Haukhum Hauzel said here today.
"As the term of the present (Mizo National Front) ministry is ending this year-end," the chief secretary said, "We will not entertain any more request for pay revision.".
Meawnhile, the government middle-school teachers's indefinite pen-down strike demanding three-tier pay scale was on.
The new pay revision, however, did not meet the teachers' demand.
However, there are several posts to which the one-step-up policy could not be applied, the chief secretary said.
In this case, special allowance of Rs 750 was applied, whereas to some posts two-steps-up policy was also applied.
The Cabinet noted that it was impossible to satisfy all the government employees. Keeping in mind the time and financial constraint the government was facing, all the government employees were expected to accept the pay revision, Mr Hauzel said.
