New Delhi: 16-yr-old DPS student jump to death

New Delhi, Aug 28: A sixteen year old girl from Jharkhand was reported to have committed suicide in the Delhi Public School (DPS) hostel in R K Puram. Pushpanjali Raj was found dead under mysterious circumstances on Wednesday, Aug 27, in the DPS hostel in RK Puram. The school authorities have said that she fell from the fifth floor of her school hostel, causing her death.

Pushpanjali, a Class XI student in the science steam, fell from the bathroom of the hostel building in the premises on Wednesday, Aug 27 afternoon. The girl was rushed to Holy Angels Hospital, Vasant Vihar, where she was declared brought dead, police said. Pushpanjali suffered serious head injuries, which the doctors said was the reason for her death. The body was sent for post-mortem to AIIMS and the police are investigating the matter.

It was not clear whether the girl committed suicide or accidentally fell from the building. No suicide note was recovered from her.

School authorities claimed that she jumped from the bathroom of the hostel in fifth floor after closing the door from inside and removing the mesh of the ventilator. However, the girl's guardian, Durgesh Pandey said that there is foul play and demanded police investigation into the case.
