Police Inspector injured in clash, 26 held in Thane
Mumbai, Aug 25 (UNI) A Police Inspector was injured in a clash between two groups during Janamashtmi celebrations at Jambhinaka neighbouring Thane district last night.
The inspector sustained injuries when he attempted to separate the clashing groups belonging to Jai Jawan Krida Mandal of Jogeshwari (a western suburb) and Ganesh Utsav Mandal, Tadwadi of Mazgaon (in southcentral Mumbai). He is admitted to a hospital, control room sources said here today.
Police have arrested 26 people -- 12 of Jai Jawan and 14 of Ganesh Utsav Mandal, who have been booked in a 'Rioting' case. They will be produced in Thane Magistrate's court for remand during the later part of the day today, the sources added.
