Mehbooba Mufti warns Centre against suppression of peaceful protests in J-K
New Delhi, August 24 : President of People's Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti has warned Congress led central government against suppressing peaceful protests by deploying more security personnel.
Addressing a news conference on Sunday in New Delhi Mehbooba said that her party is with the government as long as they are able to resolve the Kashmir problem.
"This is my message to the leadership of the country, we are with you as long as we are able to resolve the Kashmir problem through dialogue, peaceful means. We are against violence, any kind of violence be it from that side or this side. We will not take it; I repeat it again if there is a thought that we will suppress the peaceful protests through suppression by running around more security personnel. I think we will not be this side then we will have to be on the side of the innocent people who are fighting for justice, who are fighting for the resolution of the Kashmir problem," said Mehbooba.
Meanwhile, authorities in Jammu and Kashmir have imposed an indefinite curfew in Kashmir ahead of a separatist rally.
