Eighteen injured in a mishap near Singur

Singur, Aug 24: At least 18 people were injured, some of them critically, when their vehicle overturned on the Durgapur expressway near Maheshpur area of Dhanekhali on Sunday, Aug 24. Police said the protestors were travelling from Maheshpur to attend the public meeting, organised by the Trinamool Congress to demand return of the 400 acres land 'forcibly acquired' from the farmers for the Tata Motors small car project.

The injured were admitted to the Hooghly Imamdara Hospital where the condition of some of them was stated to be critical.
