Chennai Police launch storming operation

Chennai, Aug 24 (UNI) The city police launched a storming operation last night and arrested 677 rowdy elements, ex-convicts and criminals.

A police release here said the operation was launched throughout the city last night on the orders of Police Commissioner R Sekar.

The operation conducted under the direct supervision of Deputy Commissioners and Assistant Commissioners, resulted in the arrest of 677 people, who included 39 rowdies, 57 ex-convicts and more than 100 criminals.

Police also booked 57 people for drunken driving and fined 874 for riding two-wheelers without wearing helmet,the release added.
