Gangtok, Aug 24 (UNI) Reiterating that Sikkim and Darjeeling people are ''blood brothers'' separated by Teesta river,Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) president Bimal Gurung today appealed to Chief inister Pawan Chamling to support the Gorkhaland demand.

'' We appeal to our elder brother Dr Chamling to speak a few words in favour of Gorkhaland keeping in mind the blood relations that people of Sikkim and Darjeeling share,'' Mr Gurung said.

This was his first visit to Sikkim since the Gorkhaland movement was revived under him.

He came here to attend the programme organized by 'Heavenly Path' a spiritual body.

A host of local dignitaries including SM Limboo, political advisor of the chief minister also attended the programme.

It's the GJM stand that Gorkhaland will be formed by March 2010, he said.

Incidentally, the GJM leader arrived here in his vehicle bearing GL registration number along with two other vehicles of his supporters in GL numbers.

This is the first instance of any vehicle arriving in the capital of a state outside West Bengal in a GL number.

If I had not been allowed to enter Sikkim in a GL number, I would have come in another vehicle in Sikkim as it is a land our brothers, remarked Mr Gurung.

I will keep coming Sikkim to meet the Chief Minister for whom we have great respect, he said.

At the same time he also admitted that Mr Chamling could not come out openly to support Gorkhaland demand as he is the Chief Minister of a state.
