AP CM takes steps to provide drinking water to city
Hyderabad, Aug 24 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said the State Government had initiated measures to provide uninterrupted drinking water supply to the Hyderabad City under the phase-II of Krishna river.
Laying the foundation stone for the building complex after constituting the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority(HMDA) by replacing the existing Hyderabad Urban Development Authotity(HUDA) here, the Chief Minister said the Government had planned to bring the Godavari water to the city to meet the requirements of the city.
Dr Reddy said Hyderabad would be the second largest metropolitan city in the world. It would be developed, conforming to the world standards.
Initiated to ensure a scientific and regulated development in the capital region and the surrounding districts, the jurisdiction of HMDA registers three-fold of the earlier body and would cover about 78 lakh population.
