Two migrant women killed, one seriously injured

Sangrur, Aug 23 (UNI) Unidentified assailants today killed two middle-aged migrant labourer women from Bihar and seriously injured a man in Mohamaddin Basti in Malerkotla town in the district.

While Bina Rani, 40, wife of Lalu, and Rinku Devi, 35, wife of Vijay Kumar, were found dead in separate rooms, Rajesh Kumar, who was sleeping outside, was found bleeding profusely due to the wound inflicted upon his neck with sharp-edged weapons.

DSP Gurpreet Singh told reporters here that four families were living in one-room rented house, where they had been staying for about a year. All the three victims belonged to different families, he said adding that prima facie the case seemed of illicit relationship.

The injured, Rajesh Kumar, who has been admitted in civil hospital Malerkotla in serious condition, holds the key to the identity of the attackers, Mr Singh said.

Police have registered a case under section 302 of IPC against unknown persons and was interrogating many people, including neighbours, he said.
