Major, Captain among five killed in Jammu accident

Jammu, Aug 23 (UNI) Five Army personnel, including a Major and a Captain, were killed when the Gypsy in which they were travelling skidded off the road near Riggi Nullah on Batote-Thathri Road on National Highway, official sources here today said.

''All the five Army personnel, were killed in the mishap when the vehicle, which was on its way from Jammu to Kishtwar, skidded off and fell into a deep gorge last evening,'' Lt Col S D Goswami, defence spokesman told UNI.

The police parties, however, rushed to the spot and evacuated the bodies.

The deceased have been identified as Major A K Jain of 159 Territorial Army, Captain Mustafa, Naik Hans Raj, Sepoy Manoj Kumar Bhat and Sepoy T Maiti, all from 26 Rashtriya Rifles, official sources added.
