Health Min warns strict actions against medics skipping duties

Midnapur, Aug 23 (UNI) West Bengal Health Minister Surjya Kanta Mishra today warned that strict action would be taken against doctors guilty of skipping their duties at medical colleges without taking proper leave.

''Doctors are committing serious offence when they skip duties at medical colleges without taking proper leave,'' he said.

After attending a standing committee meeting here with the director of health, the director of medical education, the principal of Midnapur Medical College and Hospital, the CMO and the District Magistrate, Dr Mishra told newspersons that any complaints, received in this regard, would be dealt with severely.

The minister further informed that an intensive cardiac care unit would soon be opened here, apart from setting up a police outpost outside the hospital premises.
