Tariff for foreign postage items to go up from Sep 1
New Delhi, Aug 21 (UNI) The government today announced a tariff hike for foreign postage items from September 1.
Under the new tariff, letters upto 20 gm would cost Rs 20 and every additional 20 grams (upto 500 grams) Rs 8. Beyond 500 grams, every additional 100 grams would cost Rs 30 upto two kilos. This tariff is applicable to the mail to all countries.
For small packets upto 100 grams (for all countries) the charges would be Rs 40 and for every additional 100 grams (upto two kilos) Rs 30 would be charged.
On Mail relating to printed papers, the charges would be Rs 10 for upto 20 grams and Rs 5 for every additional 10 grams (upto 500 grams) and for mail above two kilos, Rs 20 would be charged for every additional 10 grams.
Blind literature packets for all the countries would be exempted from postage. The ''Registered Newspaper'' service would be discontinued.
Post card (single) for Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan would be charged at Rs 4 and for Asia Pacific Postal Union the charge would be Rs 6. Post card to Universal Postal Union countries would be charged at Rs 7.
Surface Air Lifted (SAL) bulk bags not exceeding five kilos would attract a postage of Rs 350 and every additional kilo would cost Rs 100.
There would be separate charges for postal articles to be sent to SAARC countries.
