State-level conference of MP Cong from tomorrow

Chhindwara, MP, Aug 21 (UNI) After nearly eight-and-a-half decades, the Congress is holding a state-level conference at polo ground here tomorrow in view of the upcoming Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections.

Previously, the state-level conference of the Pradesh Congress Committee was held here in 1922 when Mahatma Gandhi chaired the conference. Freedom fighter Sarojini Naidu had appealed during the programme to take Gandhiji's message to everyone.

Former Karnataka Chief Minister Veerappa Moily would has been sent by the party high command as ambassador for the programme tomorrow.

Union Commerce and Industries Minister Kamal Nath, Congress General Secretaries Digvijay Singh and Narayan Sami, state party President Suresh Pachouri, Opposition Leader Jamuna Devi, Union Ministers Arjun Singh, Jyotiraditya Scindia and Kantilal Bhuria and other senior state party leaders would be present.

State Congress leaders are expected to stake their claims for party tickets during the conference in view of forthcoming polls.

Besides, appeal would be made by party leaders to expose failures of the BJP Government and corruption rampant in the state.
