Samajwadi party corporator arrested in Malegaon
Nashik, Aug 21 (UNI) Five people, including a Samajwadi Party corporator in Malegaon Municipal corporation (MMC), have been arrested for stoning a MMC vehicle.
According to sources, woman corporator Hameeda Bano Attar Hussain and her supporters stoned a MMC car, carrying some of the officials yesterday, as the MMC administration did not pay heed to her demand of developmental works in her ward.
When police reached the spot, Ms Hussain threw herself in front of the police vehicle and tried to commit suicide, following which she was arrested.
As per the complaint lodged by sanitory inspector Niyajuddin Shaikh, a case of rioting had been filed against Hameeda Bano, her husband Attar Hussain, son Imran Majian, and her supporters Forzan Bano and Yasmeen Bano.
The episode figured in the MMC general body meeting, where the corporators raised questions regarding the issue and demanded rollback of the action against the corporator. Amid the din, the meeting was postponed to August 28.
