Indo-Pak Joint Committee visits Jaipur Jail

Jaipur, Aug 21 (UNI) In a bid to explore possibility of early release of Pakistani prisoners, lodged in Indian jails, a seven member Indo-Pak Joint Judicial committee today visited the Jaipur Central Jail and met six such prisoners.

The committee, comprising seven retired Judges from both the countries, arrived at the jail, along with a team of officials from the Home Ministry, a jail spokesperson said.

The committee gathered information about prisoners, their jail term and cases under which they were subjected to the imprisonment.

The committee's visit was part of the joint exercise being undertaken by both the countries for exploring possibilities of early release and repatriation of those prisoners who were either jailed for minor offenses or their jail term had already been completed, an official, accompanying the committee, said.

There were three to four such Pakistan nationals in the Jaipur Jail, whose jail term had already been completed, he added.
