DMDMK member arrested for disrupting LDMK meeting

Kancheepuram, Aug 21(UNI) Police arrested Desiya Murpoku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) Kancheepuram Panchayat Union Ward Councillor here when he tried to disrupt a meeting addressed by the Latchiya Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam(LDMK)supremo and actor Vijaya T Rajendar last night.

Police said the accused P Umapathy, who was in an inebriated condition got enraged and threw a bottle filled with petrol on the stage when Mr Rajendar was vehemently criticising the DMDK President and actor Vijaykanth.

Tension mounted, as people, who were listening to the speech of Mr Rajendar, started running helter-skelter, assuming that the sound caused by the bottle was a bomb-blast.

Police rushed to the spot and took Umapathy into custody.
