Nagaland: DC asks GBs not to collect tax

Kohima, Aug 21: Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur Maongwati Aier has instructed all the Gaon Burahs of Dimapur district not to collect any underground tax from his jurisdiction with immediate effect.

Official sources said here today that the instruction was given following an emergency meeting of the Dimapur district administration, GBs Association, GBs Union and Dimapur Municipal Council yesterday, where it was clarified that all the GBs are government agents, directly appointed by the state government and they should strictly adhere to government directives and act as responsible village chiefs.
