Court convicts 5 for Gujjar agitation violence
Jaipur, Aug 21 (UNI) A local court in Sawai Madhopur has convicted five Gujjar activists and awarded them four years imprisonment for indulging in arson and damaging public property during the Gujjar agitation for ST status last year.
Additional District and Sessions Judge(Fast Track) Seema Jain convicted and awarded sentence to Hukum Chand Nath (Malarna), Shankar Lal, Surma Gurjars (Both Masudanpura) and Ghamandi and Ram Sahai Gurjars for damaging property at the Patwar headquarters and committing arson.
The court has also slapped the convicts with a cash fine of Rs 500 each.
However, the court exonerated nine other accused in the want of evidence.
This was the first case in connection with the Gujjar agitation related violence decided by a court in the state.
