Commission to probe into Narmada corruption
Jabalpur, Aug 21 (UNI) Acting on the plea of Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA), Madhya Pradesh High Court has ordered to constitute single-member commission to probe into alleged corruption and fake registeries in rehabilitation of those displaced due to Sardar Sarovar Bandh Dam on the Narmada river.
Retire high court judge S S Jha has been appointed to head the commission.
A division bench of MPHC Chief Justice A K Patnaik and Justice Sanjay Yadav has directed the commission to submit the report within six months.
NBA alleged that corruption of crores of rupees and preparing false documents of land registeries have taken place in the rehabilitation work of dam-affected people.
