Central Government extends states power to keep a tab on farm stocks
New Delhi, Aug 21 : The Central Government today extended the power of states to check the hoarding and regulating of stocks of farm goods, traders can keep in a given period till April 2009.
The notification allowing States to impose stock limits on certain commodities was to expire on August 31, this year. Information and Broadcasting Minister P R Dasmunsi, after a meeting of the Union Cabinet, said that they had approved for keeping a check on prices and in interest of farmers had decided to extend the notification for imposition of stock limits on rice, wheat, pulses and edible oils till April 30, 2009."
"Paddy has been added to the list of items to be kept under the stock limit," he said.
