Cabinet exempt Special Category States from deployment charges

New Delhi, Aug 21 (UNI) The Centre today gave its approval for complete exemption to the Special Category States from payment of charges for the deployment of Central Forces, including Special Armed Police, for the period of April 1, 2005 to March 31, 2009.

A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting of the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

The Special Category States included Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and North-Eastern States, Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi told mediapersons.
