Ashtadhatu idol worth Rs 80 lakh seized

Jaunpur, Aug 21 (UNI) An ashtadhatu idol of Lord Ram, estimated at Rs 80 lakh in the international market, was seized from the possession of two smugglers in the Jalalpur area here today.

SP Chandra Prakash said on a tip-off, police laid a trap and nailed down Arvind and Ijaz.

On interrogation, the accused confessed that they had robbed the idol from Varanasi and were now planning to sell it.

A pistol and a large number of cartridges were also recovered from them, the policeman added.
