10 per cent hike in bus fare in MP
Bhopal, Aug 21 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh government has announced 10 percent increase in the bus fare on the demand of private bus operators.
Claiming that the bus fare was increased for the first time in the last four years, Transport Minister Himmat Kothari today said the bus operators went on indefinite strike in June this year demanding a hike of 50 per cent on bus fares.
Following a cabinet sub-committee's recommendation, the government increased the fare keeping in view the increase in operational cost due to substantial increase in the prices of petrol and diesel, tyres and tubes, besides wages and spares. The last revision was made in 2004, official sources said.
