Prachanda inspects relief work in flood-hit areas

Kathmandu, Aug 20 (UNI) Nepali Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' today inspected the relief work and flood-hit areas in Sunsari district where nearly 50,000 people are said to be affected and taking shelter in various places.

The locals of the district are seriously affected following a breach in the western Kushaha embankment along the Saptakoshi River on Monday, local media reports said.

The Prime Minister, along with a team of high-level officials, inspected the site from a Nepal Army helicopter.

About 2,000 people residing in the government offices, including children are suffering from pneumonia , Kantipur quoted district health officer Taj Narayan Yadav as saying.

The Saptakoshi River continued flooding while the damaged embankments have not been repaired due to incessant rainfall.

A large number of people are taking shelter in schools and public places as the water level has gone up drastically.
