Pak envoy to US says Musharraf's exit an opportunity to "strengthen Pak-US ties"
Washington, Aug 20 : Pakistan's ambassador to US Husain Haqqani has reportedly said that former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf's exit from the Presidency offered an opportunity for "strengthening Pak-US relations".
He said Pakistan was now under democratic rule and would be more stable and better placed to fight terrorism.
Due to democracy, Pakistan and the US would be able to deepen their friendship, the Daily Times quoted Haqqani as saying.
He added that the elected leadership would now be able to fight terrorism more comprehensively.
"Pakistan's people have spoken and Pakistan will become more stable under democratic rule," he told Americans in an online chat hosted by The Washington Times.
