HP to relax vehicle restriction in Shimla town
Shimla, Aug 18 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh Government is planning to amend Sealed and Restrict Act to allow vehicles in Shimla town.
''Rational approach should be adopted to issue vehicle permits in the town and the Act needed to be amended in interests of people and government functionaries,'' Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said.
However, the Chief Minister said the sanctity of the Mall Road should be maintained and the space should be left open for the people to stroll over and no vehicle should be allowed on this roads except the emergency vehicles like ambulances and fire tenders.
He said the authorities which will issue permit should be held accountable if ineligible applicants got permit, and speed limit of vehicle should be fixed in the town.
