Puducherry govt launches website for NRIs
Puducherry, Aug 17 (UNI) Puducherry Industries Minister V Vaithilingam has launched a website for the Non-Resident-Indians (NRIs) hailing from the Union Territory.
The website, nri.puducherry.gov.in, which was made available by the Industries Department, would provide value-added service to French nationals of Puducherry origin.
Speaking on the occasion last evening, Mr Vaithilingam said there was scope for cooperation between France and Puducherry and added that the Government was keen on promoting foreign investment in certain sectors. Tamil and French versions of the website would soon be launched, he added.
The website, besides serving as an interface between the French nationals and the Puducherry administration, would help the NRIs from the Union Territory to gather information about investment opportunities available here.
Consul General of France in Puducherry Joelle Rayet said both the governments were identifying sectors for mutual cooperation. The website would create opportunities for additional investment and facilitate the process for the French nationals, he added.
Legislators R Viswanathan, Om Sakthi Segar and Secretary to the government D C Sahoo, were among others, who addressed the gathering.
