Nepal's major political parties differ over power sharing

Kathmandu, August 17 : The two major Communist parties of Nepal --- Maoist and Unified Marxist Leninist, which formed an alliance recently with the Madhesi People Right's Forum (MPRF), will put an end to differences over the power sharing on Sunday.

In a bid to resolve the issue prior to the oath taking by the newly elected Prime Minister Puspa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', the two parties are currently holding discussion at his residence in Nayabazaar.

According to Kantipur, the Maoist has requested the UML to exercise flexibility in the allocation of the ministerial portfolios.

Differences have arisen among the newly formed alliance after one of the allies, the MPRF, demanded the post of the Deputy Prime Minister including the Foreign, Water Resource, Communication, Local Development and Education Ministries.

According to the leaders, a meeting of the three-party alliance is due to take place shortly after the Maoist-UML consultation ends.
