Monsoon weak in over Karnataka

Bangalore, Aug 17 (UNI) Following is a summary of observations recorded by the weather office here at 0830 hrs today.

Southwest monsoon was weak over Coastal Karnataka and North Interior Karnataka. Rainfall occurred at most places over Coastal Karnataka; at a few places over South Interior Karnataka and at isolated places over North Interior Karnataka.

Chief amounts of rainfall (cm): Agumbe, Channapatna 4 each; Panambur, Subramanya, Dharmasthala, Gerusoppa, Ankola, Raichur, Bhagamandala, Sringeri, Huliyurdurga 2 each; Kota, Karkala, Kollur, Kundapur, Bhatkal, Honavar, Karwar, Madikeri, Talaguppa, Jayapura, Kammardi, Arsikere, Chitradurga 1 each.

Forecast valid until Tuesday morning: Rain/thundershowers likely to occur at most places over Coastal Karnataka and at isolated places over Interior Karnataka.

Farmers Weather Bulletin: Light to moderate rain likely to occur at most places over all the districts of Coastal Karnataka; at a few places over Kodagu, Shimoga, Chikmagalur and Hassan districts of South Interior Karnataka and at isolated places over remaining districts of South Interior Karnataka and all the districts of North Interior Karnataka.

Local forecast: Partly cloudy. Rain/thundershowers likely towards evening/night.
