Govr seeks political leaders help to restore peace
Srinagar, Aug 17: Governor N N Vohra has repeated his appeal to the leaders of political parties to mobilise the people for early restoration of peace in the state.
He reiterated his concern for no more time being lost in restoring normalcy.
During his separate discussions with former Chief Minister and the National Conference (NC) patron, Dr Farooq Abdullah accompanied by his son and party president Omar Abduallh, and the Communist Party of India(Marxist) state secretary, M Y Tarigami, Mr Vohra discussed the overall situation prevailing in the state, an official spokesman said on Sunday, Aug 17.
He said the Governor repeated his appeal to the leaders of various political parties to mobilise the people for restoring peace.
He also referred to the innumerable hardships being suffered by the people at large, particularly the student community, tourist traders, daily waged skilled and unskilled workforce, besides various other segments of the society.
Dr Abdullah assured his party's continued strong support to the Governor's efforts in heralding peace and harmony in both the regions of the state.
Mr Tarigami also assured the Governor of support and offered suggestions in regard to the restoration of communal harmony.
Besides the all parties meeting convened by him two days ago, the Governor is continuing separate meetings with individual leaders.
He has also established an Advisory Council, representing eminent persons from all the three regions, which would be holding its first meeting later this month.
