District administration discuss 'UN challo' with Geelani
Srinagar, Aug 17 (UNI) Breakaway Hurriyat Conference (HC) Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani has assured the district administration that march to United Nations Military Observers (UNMO) office at Sonawar tomorrow would be peaceful.
Official sources said Mr Geelani gave this assurance to Deputy Commissioner (DC) and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Srinagar.
A spokesman of the HC Ayaz Akbar told UNI that the DC and SSP called on Mr Geelani at his Hyderpora residence this afternoon.
He said they discussed about tomorrow's UNMO march with Mr Geelani.
Mr Akbar said they wanted to know about the programme and route of the march besides other arrangements for the march.
Mr Geelani has assured the DC and SSP that the march would remain peaceful as they have already appealed to participants not to do anything which will justify firing from security forces and police.
Mr Geelani also said people from all parts of the valley are expected to participate in the march.
