Communal clashes continue in northern Assam
Guwahati, Aug 17 (UNI) Communal tension continued to rock northern Assam districts with reports of fresh violence between tribal people and minority community received today.
Two persons sustained injuries when a group of about 300 Bodo villagers attacked a nearby minority community village along the border of disturbed Udalguri and Soniptur districts, police said.
The attackers torched several houses and fired gun shots, though police could not confirm about the latter.
Police forces rushed to the spot and the situation was brought under control.
Meanwhile, a review meeting, attended by top district and police officials, was held at Rowta police station in Udalguri district today.
Army continued to stage flag march in the troubled greater Dalgaon area since last evening though no fresh incidents were reported.
