Apollo Tyres unit shut down

Thrissur, Aug 16 (UNI) The Perambra unit of the Apollo Tyres company in Thrissur district declared a lock-out today due to lack of production and a section of the workers striking work.

According to a company spokesman, the lock out was enforced this morning. The company had recently invested about Rs 15 crore for increasing production from 280 MT to 318 MT.

The spokesman said, however, production could not be increased to the expected level, following which the workers went on strike for various reasons.
