4 year old boy allegedly poisoned by father

Barrackpore, Aug 16 (UNI) A 4-year old boy was allegedly poisoned by his father at Naihati near here last evening.

According to police, Puranjay Ghatak, son of Kartik Ghatak, a suspended fourth grade employee of Naihati State General hospital living in the staff quarter, was declared brought dead by the doctors here in the hospital.

Tapti, mother of Puranjay today alleged that her husband who returned home after a long gap took the child to show the Independence day celebration.

The boy was found seriously ill when came back. He was taken to the hospital where he was declared dead.

An FIR had been lodged in the concerned police station by the victim's mother against her husband.

The body was sent for postmortem, police said.

Meanwhile, the angry locals severely assaulted Kartik before police intervened and took him into custody on the basis of the FIR.
