London, Aug.15 : Manchester Police have arrested three young men from Blackburn on suspicion of terrorism charges.
According to the Daily Express, two of the three were arrested at Manchester Airport, while the third was picked up from the Accrington area this morning.
All three men are said to be of Asian origin and are aged 21, 22 and 23 respectively.
The officers are now searching two addresses in one street in the Audley Range area of the town. A third house in Whalley Range is also being searched.
The arrests followed a joint operation by Lancashire police and Greater Manchester Police Counter Terrorism Unit.
This is not the first time Blackburn has been linked to alleged terror plots.
Junade Feroze, 31, of Malham Gardens, Blackburn, was imprisoned for 22 years in 2007 for helping al Qaida operative Dhiren Barot pave the way for bomb plots in the UK and America.
And Sajid Badat, 24, who conspired with shoe bomber Richard Reid, had studied at the College of Islamic Knowledge and Guidance in Blackburn.
