More than 11 school children feeared drowned
Mangalore, Aug 14 (UNI) More than 11 school children were feared drowned when a mini-bus in which they were traveling fell into Phalguni river at Ullaibettu near here today.
Police said that in all 30 children of Bhalmi School at Kaikamba, about 15 km were going to school when the mishap occurred.
Police with the help of swimmers have rescued 15 people and admitted to Wenlock Hospital.
So far seven bodies were recovered and rescue operations are continuing.
DG and IGP Sreekumar talking to newsmen in Bangalore said that the bus has been removed and rescue operation is in full swing.
Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, expressing his condolence to the dead, has announced Rs 50,000 compensation to the next kin of the dead.
