UP police moots for 2 guarantee for new mobile connection

Lucknow, Aug 13 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh police today directed all the cellular phone providers in the state to follow strict guidelines while issuing new mobile connections and take gurantee from two existing customers before issuing a new connection.

In a meeting with the cellular providers in the state, the police officials have strictly asked the companies to issue a new connection only after verifying their addresses and photo identity submitted along with the form.

State Additional Director General of Police ( Law and order) Brij Lal said the mobile companies have also been suggested that they should enforce guarantee by two existing customers for issuing a new connection like been done by the commercial banks.

Asking all the mobile companies to coordinate with each other and have a common format of the customer application, Mr Lal said the companies have also been cautioned that several Chinese made mobile phones have identical IMEI numbers.

It was also observed in the meeting that the mobile companies should send the Call Detail Report (CDR) as sought by the police with the cell ID number along with the location.

Alogether 11 representatives of the mobile phone providers participated in the meeting and discussed how to prevent use of mobile phones in the crime.

Meanwhile, state Director General of Police (DGP) Vikram Singh had asked the police department to book the people involved in fake currency racket under the Gangster Act and to open their crime history sheet.
