MTNL eyes 7.5 lakh 3G lines in 6-9 mths
New Delhi, Aug 13 (UNI) Public sector Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) today said it plans to procure 7.5 lakh lines in the next 6-9 months for rolling out 3G services in the city.
''With our core equipment already installed, we will be able to roll out 3G service in the next 2-3 months. For this, we will procure 7.5 lakh lines in the next 6-9 months,'' company Executive Director (Delhi) A K Arora told reporters here.
Initially, the service will be available in Central Delhi.
The third generation (3G) services allows users access to faster communications and a wide range of applications like high-speed internet access, video calls, faster music and video downloads, interactive gaming and global positioning over internet.
MTNL had earlier said the tariffs of the 3G service would be market-driven, while the service would be rolled out in Mumbai within five months.
