Mizoram police ask Jungle Warfare School not to block NH
Aizawl, Aug 13 (UNI) Kolasib district Superintendent of police Lalbiakthanga Khiangte has requested the Commanding Officer (CO) of the Vairengte-based Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School not to block the NH 54, the only lifeline of Mizoram.
The request came after numerous public complaints against frequent blockade on the highway by the CIJWS as part of its military exercise.
About 30 US soldiers of the Green Berets are currently undertaking a joint exercise with Indian army at the country's premier anti-terror school located along the national highway at Vairengte jungles.
Responding to the public appeal, the police super, Lalbiakthanga Khiangte, in his letter to the CO maintained that road blockade along the national highway was not permitted, Kolasib additional SP Lalrermuana told UNI here today over phone.
He said that such blockade was creating "unnecessary panic" to the people, besides unwanted misapprehension between the security personnel and the civilians.
