SBI fake currency racket; Accused to be booked under Gangster Act
Siddharthnagar, Aug 12 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh police has started the initial process to book suspended State Bank of India (SBI) Dumariyaganj chest cashier Sudhakar Tripathi and co-accused Abid under the Gangster Act.
The accused were brought to Lucknow yesterday by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) after transit remand from Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court here.
Meanwhile, an official of a Central Intelligence Agency today told UNI that the possibilty of the phoney notes being printed from Bangladesh were high.
The screening of notes was still underway in the SBI's Dumariyaganj chest, where over Rs 1.60 crore have been detected as fake so far.
On Friday, the Uttar Pradesh government ordered a SIT probe into the racket, while the very next day the government had recommended a Central Bureau of Investigation's (CBI) probe.
