SIT produces Dumariaganj fake currency culprits in court

Lucknow, Aug 11(UNI) The Special Investigation Team(SIT), probing the sensational recovery of over Rs 1.60 crore fake currency in the SBI Dumariyaganj chese, today brought the two prime accused here for their appearance in the special court.

The SIT is likely to plead for a police custody and even seek permission from the court for a Narco tests of the culprits.

State additional Director General of police(law and order) Brij Lal said here today that both the culprits would be produced before the Special Court of SIT this afternoon.

Earlier on Saturday, the UP government had recommended a CBI probe into the case but the central agency was yet to take over.

Meanwhile, main conspirator and head cashier of SBI Dumariaganj branch Sudhakar Tripathi has alleged that a senior official of the bank was responsible for his connection with the anti-nationals in mixing fake currency in the bank's chest.

Sudhakar. Alias Baba, along with Abid, were brought to the state capital to appear before the special court of Special Investigation team(SIT).

Talking to mediapersons before his appearance in the court, Sudhakar said he was forced to mix the fake currency due to deficit in his balance account owing to some bank's technical fault.

'' I had conveyed to the officials several times but they did not hear my plea'', he said adding the deficit of Rs 2.50 lakhs increased manifold, due to the fault.

He also disclosed that Abid supplied him the fake currency after receiving it from the main kingpin Zahur.

The accused also charged the STF of using force against him to prove certain charges which were not done by him.

He admitted that he had mixed only Rs 72 lakhs of fake currency in the chest but claimed that Rs 7.19 lakh recovered from his residence was recently received after selling off a piece of land. They used to get the fake currency at the ratio of 35:65, he added.
