Pak's ex-servicemen demand Musharraf should not be given a safe exit route

Rawalpindi, Aug 11 : The ex-service in Pakistan have demanded that President Pervez Musharraf, who, according to them, had indulged in unconstitutional steps during his nine year rule, should be impeached and not given a safe passage.

Addressing a press conference here last evening, the leaders of the Ex-Servicemen Society (ESS), including Lt Gen (Retd) Saleem Haider, Lt Gen (Retd) Jamshed Gulzar Kayani and Gen (Retd) Salahuddin Tirmizi announced their full support for the present government on the issue of the President's impeachment.

They went on to saying that the success of the impeachment process should follow the accountability of the President and his associates, reported The News.

According to the paper, they said that former military leadership was keeping a watchful eye on the political scenario, adding that unconstitutional steps initiated by Musharraf dealt a severe blow to the national interests.

Military leadership will stay neutral during the impeachment process, they hoped.
