Mah: RPF seizes 1.3 kg gold from courier man

Mumbai, Aug 8: The Railway Police Force (RPF) has seized Rs one crore in cash and jewellery worth Rs 15 lakh from a courier employee between Karjat and Kalyan railway stations in central railway here.

According to Railway Police, an escorting team seized a gunny bag loaded with Rs one crore cash and 1.3 kg of gold jewellery from one Bhagwan Chavan (45), in Hussain Sagar Express when he was coming to Mumbai from Solapur yesterday. They also recovered two cheques from him.

During interrogation Chavan revealed that he was working for a courier company at Solapur and was coming to Mumbai to deliver the goods.

Later the goods were claimed by a party, police said.

Police have handed over the seizure to Income Tax Department for further investigation.
