Moderate quake strikes Southern Sumatra

New Delhi, Aug 8 (UNI) An earthquake, measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale, shook Southern Sumatra today.

The temblor described as ''moderate' by the Met department occurred at 1208 hrs and was epicentered at 3.6 degrees South latitude and 101.2 degrees East longitude.

There were no immediate reports of any loss of life or damage to property.
