Former domestic help held for murder attempt on 3-year-old boy

Vadodara, Aug 8 (UNI) Police today arrested a domestic help after he allegedly kidnapped a three-year-old son of his former employer and threw him into a pond in Padra taluka, about 20 km from here.

However, the child was rescued by the onlookers near the ''Chippa'' pond, and the accused, identified as Thakore Jashu Patel(48), was handed over to the Padra police after being given a good thrashing.

Police sources said Thakore, a resident of Nondhna village in Bharuch district, was serving in the house of one Yogesh Patel at Padra as a domestic help for the last couple of years. But one-and-a-half months ago he left his employer's house without informing the latter.

At around 0730 hrs, Thakore secretly returned to Padra and kidnapped the kid, Bandan, from the local Jain school on the pretext of taking him home and threw him into the pond, police said.

Thakore, who was severely beaten up by the local residents, was admitted to a hospital in a critical condition. He has been booked under Section 365 (kidnapping) and 307 (attemt to murder) of IPC, police said, adding that it was not immediately known as to what provoked the former domestic help to make such a murderous attempt as Yogesh had categorically denied having any sorts of soured relations with his former servant.
