Eastern Railway intensifies security against criminals

Kolkata, Aug 8 (UNI) Railway Protection Force, Eastern Railway, has arrested 19,841 offenders, of whom 19,636 had been convicted during July, 2008, an ER release today said.

The ER realised Rs 38,90,787 from them as penalites.

Besides, 50 touts were arrested and a fine of Rs 15,850 had been realised from them.

During the period, some 109 criminals with stolen property worth Rs 3,63,660 were arrested.

Total 17,417 free tippers were also arrested and Rs 51,53917 were realised from 17242 passengers and 175 were remanded to custody.
