Cong to supply free power in MP

Bhopal, Aug 8 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee President Suresh Pachouri today said his party would seriously consider supplying free electricity for farmers', five horsepower pumps and single-point connections to the poor after it comes to power again in this state after this year's polls.

''The Congress will present its future schemes in the manifesto and it is extremely likely that the issue of free power to peasants will figure in it. My party will also dwell over inquiry into atrocities against the poor and other sections during Bharatiya Janata Party rule,'' he told reporters here after the first meeting of the state Election Campaign Committee.

The first meeting of the recently-formed Congress Manifesto Committee, under Mr Pachouri's chairmanship, would be conducted on Auust 13.
