Bajaj Auto to launch 3 new bikes in 125 cc segment

New Delhi, Aug 8 (UNI) Bajaj Auto Ltd, the country's second biggest motorbike maker, today said it will launch three more bikes in 125 cc segment in order to boost its sales and protect margins in the sluggish market.

The company's 125 DTS-Si has become the country's largest selling motorcycle in the 125 cc segment with an average sales of 27,000 units per month in the first quarter of the current fiscal.

Launched to upgrade 100 cc customers from overpriced and under-performing 100 cc motorcycles to a superior performing and feature-laden 125cc product, the Bajaj XCD 125 has been instrumental in migrating customers away from the 100 cc segment.

''60 per cent of Bajaj XCD 125 DTS-Si customers were erstwhile 100 cc customers who felt compelled to choose the XCD 125 over other 100 cc products due to its obvious superiority on performance, features and fuel economy on the one hand and the sporty, youthful image of the Bajaj Brand on the other ,'' Bajaj Auto General Manager (Marketing and Probiking) Amit Nandi said in a statement.

Bajaj has a dominant market share of almost 50 per cent in the 125 cc + segment and XCD 125 alone contributes 13 per cent of the 125 cc + segment.
