3 children washed away in Rata rivulet

Solan, Aug 8 (UNI) Three children were washed away in swollen Rata rivulet at Jahrmajri in this district this morning.

According to police sources, the incident occurred as the Rata rivulet was flowing above the danger mark. A search operation was going on to trace the children.

Meanwhile, due to heavy rainfall in the area, water level has increased in number of streams. Large number of people were found stranded across the Sarsa river.

The heavy rainfall has also disrupted the movement of traffic in various parts of the state. National Highway 22 has been closed for the vehicles and traffic has been diverted through bypass route from Kumarhatti to Solan.

Heavy rains triggered landslides in Barog, where four houses today collapsed, however, no loss of life was reported. The rescue operation is going on and the affected famillies have been taken to safer places.
