PIL filed against CM's decision to allot land to Videocon
Mumbai, Aug 6 (UNI) A Navi Mumbai resident today filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) against Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh's decision to allot a 250 acre land in Navi Mumbai to Videocon Industries for an LCD manufacturing plant, for Rs 300 crore against the land's actual value of Rs 3000 crore.
Vishnu Gavali, a resident of Panvel in Navi Mumbai, filed the PIL here before Bombay High Court Chief Justice Swatanter Kumar, praying to stay and cancel the allotment.
The land belongs to CIDCO, which has diverted from its purpose of providing houses to people at cheaper rates and is earning crores of rupees by selling their land to builders, Mr Gavali alleged, while talking to UNI.
'I have requested the chief justice to convert the litigation into a Suo moto', he said.
